Atkins/Dekker Event Recap
Well, it’s been just about a week since we had Tom Atkins and Fred Dekker in town to screen their movies. And as I’m getting back into the swing of things, I wanted to post a quick recap of how it went. So keep reading to check out what you may have missed and see some pics from the weekend! The event itself went amazingly well. Friday night was all Atkins as we showed 35mm screenings of “The Fog” and “Halloween III : Season of the Witch”. And Saturday night we featured a 35mm screening of “Monster Squad” followed by a spectacular Blu-Ray projection of the “Night of the Creeps” Director’s Cut, at the request of Fred Dekker. The projection was so good, Fred himself said it was the best he’s ever seen the film, ever… Fred also hosted a Q&A after “Monster Squad” and was joined by Tom Atkins for another Q&A after “Night of the Creeps”. And after the last film on both nights, they were each gracious enough to mingle with fans and take photos and sign autographs. It was truly a great experience and I was pleasantly surprised to see how many people traveled far for this event. We had friends/customers from Buffalo, Syracuse, all over Pennsylvania, New York City, and even Boston. Even a few guys from Rue-Morgue hopped the border from Toronto to hang out with us for a weekend. Take a look at some photos below and click to enlarge them.
Since we had so many people from out of town, we decided to host a party/model shoot on Saturday afternoon. Below are some pics from that, and I’m sure you’ll be seeing more of them making their way to our site soon.
Last – but not least – I want to personally thank everyone that made this event possible….
- Jim Healy and the Dryden Theatre at the George Eastman House for hosting the films.
- Tom Atkins and Fred Dekker for coming out for it (and for being two of the coolest people I’ve ever met)
- Tim and Kristy who busted their asses the weeks leading up to it and all throughout the weekend.
- Jason Edmiston and James Rheem Davis for their amazing poster designs
- John, Jen, Zach, Eva, Terry, Jordan, Bill, Sean, Rasheed, and everyone else who traveled from out of town to be here.
- Gary, Nicole, Justin, and Paige for coming down from Rue-Morgue to hang with us
- all of our local friends and family who came out to support us
- Carrie for taking photos all day and into the night
I’m sure I’m forgetting someone, so to everyone else, I thank you for being there and a part of it. Let’s hope we can do more of these in the future!

Wished I could have been there but either way it seems like you guys did one hell of a job! I really hope you guys can pull off more screenings like this in the future… I will definitely make sure to be there next time. Congrats on a job well done!
Such an amazing time with such extraordinary people. The Fright Rags crew were nothing but gracious and delightful. Anyone thinking of attending one of their events or purchasing a shirt, DO IT! You won’t regret either experience and you’ll only crave to have more of both.
Outstanding! Wish I could have made it to see such classic films and meet new people.
