Vote on a New Design : Part Five : THE FINAL ROUND

2009 July 1
by Ben

Ok, I know the last round was supposed to be it…but we have some unfinished business. Based on the flood of comments and emails I’ve received regarding there being no quote on the shirt (not to mention that round three was decided by only ONE vote), I felt I needed to address the situation. So, this is it…the final round…Below are three different options for this shirt design. The color was voted on in the last round, so that will not change (I’m going with the majority here, so please don’t ask to do a re-vote on this one). Now all that is left is to figure out if the quote should be on this shirt, and if so, where it should go. So check out the three options below and cast your vote!

DESIGN ON FRONT / TEXT ON BACK

This is the final round, so make sure to get everyone you know to cast their votes! Because once it’s over, the winning design will get printed, even if it’s only by one vote… You have until this Friday, July 3!

Which final design do you like best?

  • Design on front - Text on back (58%, 566 Votes)
  • Design AND Text on front (23%, 224 Votes)
  • Design on front - NO TEXT (19%, 189 Votes)

Total Voters: 979

I really appreciate all the feedback and we’ll definitely be doing this again at some point. Make sure to leave your comments below on what you thought of this round and the entire series. Thanks again for participating!

To be fair, I actually like them all equally and it was a hard decision. Man I love that colour scheme though!

thanks for including us in this process! I love the site, and i love all of the shirts.

I love love love “they live” and although I do love that quote, I’m not jazzed about wearing a shirt around in public that says “ass” on it. But that could be the teacher in me talking. Or the fact that I’m getting old! ha.

I really do NOT like the quote on the back. Seems dumb to me. The art is seems to say it all.

Design #2 is honestly the best. It is not cluttered, it is not hard to read, and in our opinion is the best.

    Keep it up Ben.

Yeah, im not a big fan of text , especially large bold text on these shirts. Number 1 gets my vote. I would still pick it up with text on the back, but like previously said, it does look a bit cluttered with front text

Still voting no text. The quote on the back allows me to wear it with a shirt over it, but it still restricts where and when I can wear it.

I voted for design one…design on front, no text. The esoteric nature of FrightRags shirts is what really draws me in…and the text kind of takes away from that. That said, I wouldn’t be distraught if the quote ended up being included on the back. But I don’t think I’ll buy it if the quote ends up on the front…as someone else on here said, it just makes it look way too cluttered and not unlike a Wal-Mart novelty tee. The quote is just really way too long to be included with the design, and I prefer textless shirts anyways.

And please, make the sirts in something bigger than 3x.
Allt he guys at my gym love these shirts but we all wear 4 to 5 x when lifting and running.
    Comfort matters.

    Thanks.

Hell yeah dude, I am glad you went with what i said putting shit on the back of shirts. :) you should also start putting Fright Rags logos on them somewhere. So many people I see dig my shirts that I wear.

I need a new fright rags sticker for my car, it got all f’d…but my WWJD sticker is still on there <3

While I agree that for some people wear a shirt that says ass might be troublesome, I think maybe if enough pre orders were made two versions of the shirt should be made available. Me.. the quote is synonymous with the movie.

I voted ‘text on the back.’ I originally didn’t care for the text at all, but this new design is really cool. However it kinda pushes the design lower on the shirt so that those of us of “larger girth” wouldn’t look as good in it. That would look terrible on a beer belly

I pray you offer a version text free as well if either of the others win.

“Ass” stopped being a “swear word” about 15 years ago.

Quotes are for simpletons. A picture tells 100 words, or in this case 18 words. I vote No Text. Is the shirt with two sides of printing gonna cost more now? Think people, think! And if the word “ass” bothers anyone, I wonder what you think of the shirts that have monsters holding dripping wet, decapitated heads on them.

For those worried, a small piece of black tape will cover the word “ass” if you are worried.
Its what I do when I wear my Shining shirt to work and I have to block the word “f**k”

I voted for no text. I think you can sell the shirt on the design alone. But so far it looks like the “on the back” fans are going to win out.
Well I think it would be lousy with the text on the front so I guess it’s okay if you’re going to buy the shirt.
If it was on the front it would force the design further down to the hem of the shirt which I think would make it wear easier. Then you can’t tuck it in either.
Hey does Roddy Piper get credit since he ad libbed the slogan? ;-)
