Vote on a New Design : Part One : Pick the Sketch
Recently I was contacted by a designer asking if I was looking for some more t-shirt ideas. To be honest, we have many designs already in the works and I was planning on waiting a few months before getting any more art done. However, he already had some ideas sketched out so I had him send them to me. After taking a look at them, I couldn’t decide which one I wanted to go with. Each one seemed to be a good start on a design, but it was hard to narrow it down. So, I thought this would be a great opportunity to give you a chance to voice your opinion on which design to print.
Here’s how it’s going to work. Over the next few weeks, I am going to include you on every step of the process…picking the first sketches, any changes in the composition, and even what colors will be on the final design. And at each point in the process, you will get a chance to vote on what to do next as the design becomes more refined.
For the first part of the series, we need to decide which idea to move forward with. Below are four sketches, each inspired by a different film. Take a look at each of them and decide what you think would look best on a shirt. Which one captures the subject matter in the most original way? Please keep in mind that these are very rough sketches… and only the one with the most votes will continue. When you have your pick, cast your vote at the very bottom and feel free to add a comment as to what you like or dislike about the sketch you chose.
I will be taking votes through this weekend, at which point I will be sharing them with the designer. We will then come up with a few revisions based on your feedback and I’ll send another email next week so you can vote on the next step. I hope you enjoy taking part in this and I can’t wait to hear what you think.

The Thing is one of my favorite movies, but I voted for Jaws because I think the design is better and the site already has a shirt for The Thing.

You’re very talented, I was quite impressed with all of your designs but JAWS would have to be my favourite! That sketch of Quint’s death is very well done, I would definitely buy one. I was also impressed with your sketch of the shark and the zombie but I was wondering if you could do one for JAWS fans of a sort of fantasy “hero” Quint instead? The Wicker Man is also excellent!

I voted for They Live, although Jaws was a very close second. I think the THEY LIVE shirt has a lot of potential that could be brought out with all the background details hinted at in the original sketch. That, and who doesn’t want a shirt with Rowdy Roddy Piper on it?

I love the vibe and the amazing special effects of The Thing, so I’d have to go with that one!

my favorites are they live, the thing and jaws.i think though that u need more going on in the jaws one, in the thing – it would be cool if u had a collage of 3 things going on like the dog, the alien head and i liked the petri dish idea that jeff said. they live is one of my favorite movies( i would vote for it , but the comp wouldnt let me) and i liked it but i think u need to change it a little- first off the aliens didnt have skeleton heads they were more alieny- so change those, i did like the pic of the guy in the sunglasses, maybe add a quote next to him.
BTW love the new t-shirts u have off and im glad to see their are 8.00 clearance ones (ill have to pick up a few).
hey how are the tar man t-shirts comeing alon, i remember voting for 1 of those.
PS.- It would be really cool if u can get the rights and do a t-shirt on the movie called THE STUFF! or maybe THE BLOB!- luv those 2 movies!

I’d have to admitt that I would love to see how the weirdo masks would turn out on the Wicker Man t-shirt (we’re talking about the original here, right? not the shitty remake…) but being a HUGE fan of Jaws, I think I’d have to go with that… I think, although I want all of these to be tshirts.
also i was just watching jaws 2 the other day- u know what would be a cool t-shirt design? – if u had roy sheider holding the electric rod while hes standing on a raft and jaws is coming towards him, with a quite saying “come on u son of a bitch”, or just have “COME ON”- this is such a classic scene in jaws 2- so think about it !

Even though They Live won by a hair, I think that it would be a really good idea to release a shirt for They Live AND Jaws since it almost lost by a hair! I would buy it for sure!
