About Phantasm II

Don Coscarelli's Phantasm II (1988) was the only Phantasm film made within the studio system, with Universal providing a budget that allowed for bigger action sequences while Coscarelli maintained his surreal vision. Reggie Bannister returns as the ice cream vendor turned warrior, wielding a homemade four-barreled shotgun against the Tall Man's minions and dwarf zombies. The film expands the mythology of the sinister mortician who steals bodies to compress into slave creatures for his dimension, while maintaining the dreamlike logic that makes the series unique. James LeGros replaces the original Mike (A. Michael Baldwin would return for subsequent sequels), but Angus Scrimm's Tall Man remains the terrifying constant throughout the franchise.
