About Bride of Chucky (1998)

Bride of Chucky (1998) reinvented the franchise as a self-aware horror comedy, introducing Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany—Chucky's equally murderous girlfriend who becomes a doll herself. Hong Kong director Ronny Yu brought a stylish visual sensibility and embraced the absurdity of the premise, with Brad Dourif and Tilly's bickering doll couple providing genuine comedic chemistry. The film's opening montage references Jason's mask, Leatherface's chainsaw, Freddy's glove, and Michael's mask, establishing Chucky as part of horror's elite villain pantheon. Bride of Chucky revitalized the franchise after the underperforming third film and set the template for the increasingly comedic direction the series would take.
