About Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988)

Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988) transforms childhood fears of clowns into science fiction horror-comedy, featuring aliens who happen to look like circus performers and use cotton candy cocoons to harvest human prey. The Chiodo Brothers—Stephen, Charles, and Edward—designed and built all the elaborate Klown costumes and props themselves, creating a consistent visual world that feels like a twisted carnival come to life. The film's ice cream truck spaceship, popcorn guns, and balloon animal tracking dogs demonstrate incredible creativity on a limited budget. Despite minimal theatrical release, Killer Klowns became a beloved cult classic through home video and remains one of the most purely original horror concepts of the 1980s.
