About Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986)

Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986) deepened the mythology of the original by introducing Reverend Henry Kane, portrayed with skin-crawling menace by Julian Beck, who was terminally ill during filming and brought genuine fragility to his skeletal appearance. The film reveals the cemetery spirits were actually a doomsday cult led by Kane, who sealed his followers in an underground cave—a backstory that adds religious horror to the supernatural threat. H.R. Giger, the Swiss artist who designed Alien's xenomorph, created the film's most disturbing imagery: the "vomit creature" that Craig T. Nelson must battle. While not matching the original's impact, the sequel expands the Freeling family's ordeal in creative ways and features another memorable Zelda Rubinstein performance.
