About Poltergeist (1982)

Poltergeist (1982) brought supernatural horror into the suburban American living room, with a family's tract home built over a relocated cemetery becoming a portal to the other side. The film was directed by Tobe Hooper but produced and co-written by Steven Spielberg, leading to persistent speculation about who actually directed—with Spielberg's fingerprints visible throughout. The clown doll attack and the "TV people" sequence traumatized a generation of children, while Zelda Rubinstein's tiny psychic Tangina Barrons delivered one of horror's most memorable supporting performances. Tragically, the franchise became associated with a supposed curse after several cast members, including young Heather O'Rourke, died under untimely circumstances.
