About 28 Days Later (2002)

Danny Boyle's 28 Days Later (2002) was shot almost entirely on Canon XL1 digital video cameras, giving the film its distinctive raw, documentary-like aesthetic that made the abandoned streets of London feel genuinely apocalyptic. The production famously shut down sections of central London at 4 AM on Sunday mornings, using police cooperation and a crew of just 30 people to capture the eerie emptiness of Piccadilly Circus, Westminster Bridge, and the M1 motorway. While technically not "zombies" but rage-infected humans, the film's sprinting infected redefined the genre and directly influenced the running zombies of the Dawn of the Dead remake and the Left 4 Dead video games. Made for just £5 million, it grossed over $82 million worldwide and launched Cillian Murphy's career as a leading man.
