About Pieces

Pieces (1982) is a Spanish-American slasher that delivers exactly what its tagline promises—"It's exactly what you think it is!"—with a chainsaw-wielding killer collecting body parts to assemble a human jigsaw puzzle. The film's dubbing, illogical plot twists (including a random kung fu attack that's never explained), and over-the-top gore have made it a beloved midnight movie experience. Director Juan Piquer Simón (credited as J.P. Simon) crafted a film so excessive in its violence and so earnest in its absurdity that it transcends criticism to become pure grindhouse entertainment.
