Blood Rage (1987) takes place during Thanksgiving and follows twin brothers—one committed to an asylum for a murder the other actually committed—as the guilty twin goes on a killing spree when his brother escapes. The film sat unreleased for years and exists in multiple versions (also known as Nightmare at Shadow Woods), but its uncut form delivers impressive practical gore effects. Louise Lasser of Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman fame gives a memorably unhinged performance as the twins' mother, drinking wine and having a breakdown while her family is murdered around her. Blood Rage has experienced a significant cult revival, appreciated for its holiday setting, creative kills, and the immortal line "That's not cranberry sauce."
