Bruce Campbell's Ash Williams transforms from hapless victim into chainsaw-handed, boomstick-wielding action hero, delivering physical comedy that rivals Buster Keaton while covered in gallons of fake blood. The film's manic energy—featuring a laughing room sequence, a possessed hand, and Ash's immortal "Groovy" one-liner—created the template for horror-comedy that films still follow today. Made for $3.5 million, the film showcased Raimi's innovative "shaky cam" and demonstrated that horror sequels could evolve into something entirely new.
