About Shaun of the Dead (2004)

Edgar Wright's Shaun of the Dead (2004) proved that horror-comedy could achieve critical acclaim while genuinely satisfying both genres, following a slacker whose zombie apocalypse survival plan centers on reaching his favorite pub. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's chemistry as Shaun and Ed anchors the film's emotional core, their friendship tested when survival requires Ed to take literally anything seriously. Wright's visual style—rapid editing, precise framing, and setups that pay off hours later—elevates the film above simple parody into genuine craft. The term "rom-zom-com" was coined for this film, which became a worldwide cult phenomenon and launched the "Cornetto Trilogy" continuing with Hot Fuzz and The World's End.
