About The Warriors (1979)

Walter Hill's The Warriors (1979) transforms New York City into a neon-lit urban mythology, following a Coney Island gang wrongly accused of killing a respected leader as they fight through enemy territory to reach home. The film's stylized gangs—including the iconic Baseball Furies with their painted faces and the roller-skating Punks—created an unforgettable visual language that's been referenced in countless subsequent works. The production faced real danger, with cast and crew threatened by actual gangs during New York location shooting.
